Standoff Ensues After Man Threatens Wife with Ax

Renton, WA: A man threatened to kill his wife with an ax around 10:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, in the city of Renton.

The wife managed to escape and police were called to the location in the 400 block of Taylor Avenue NW. Upon arrival of officers, the man barricaded himself inside the the apartment and a standoff ensued. Police brought in SWAT and drone resources.

Eventually after tear gas, explosive devices and a drone to look inside, the man was taken into custody and arrested.

The Renton Fire Department conducted an initial evaluation of the man to make sure he did not sustain injury.
