Kent, WA: Just after 6 a.m. Sunday, July 24, South King Fire along with Puget Sound Fire were dispatched to an unknown type fire in the 24000 block of Pacific Highway South. They had received multiple 911 calls regarding a large amount of black smoke in the area.

Upon arriving on scene, crews located a possible transient encampment behind the light rail tracks still under construction with heavy fire showing and spreading to nearby brush and trees.

Crews made a quick hit on the fire and stopped it from spreading further into the brush. One patient was located and transported to an area hospital for burns.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
