El Monte Officer Injured in Apparent Encounter with a Suspect

El Monte, Los Angeles County, CA: An El Monte Police officer was injured in an apparent encounter with a suspect who was placed in handcuffs Friday night, Sept. 2.

El Monte PD and other neighboring agencies responded to a officer-involved shooting with officer down on Valley Boulevard and Cogswell Road in front of an O’Reilly Auto Parts store.

Dispatch soon reported there was no officer-involved shooting but that the officer was injured and the suspect was detained and placed in cuffs. The suspect was transported to a local hospital as well as the downed officer.

The condition of the officer is unknown at this time, and the incident is still under investigation.
