Abandoned Vehicle on Tracks Struck by Train

Pomona, Los Angeles County, CA: An abandoned vehicle on tracks was struck by a train early Sunday morning in the city of Pomona.

Los Angeles County Fire Department along with Pomona Police Department received a 911 call from Union Pacific Railroad that a vehicle was struck on the train tracks at North Park Avenue and West 1st Street.

Pomona officers arrived on scene and located an abandoned vehicle on the tracks with the train engine into the back end of the vehicle.

The Union Pacific train passengers were not injured.

It was unknown how long the vehicle was on the tracks before it was stuck by the train.

Aly Mejia, Public Information Coordinator, Pomona PD, told Key News Network that PPD officers responded to the vehicle’s registered owner’s house but no one appeared to be home.
