Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, 85 in total, including those aboard a trio of helicopters, joined by hand crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and units from neighboring Santa Monica Fire Department, have stopped all forward progress of the terrain-driven flames to two acres of medium-to-heavy brush in very steep and rocky terrain between Pacific Coast Highway and Corona del Mar, LAFD reported.

No injuries or structure damage was reported. There was no formal evacuation.

Pacific Coast Highway will remain closed to all traffic between Chautauqua Boulevard and Temescal Canyon Road for an unknown duration of time until LAFD operations are complete.

LAFD advises motorists to expect congestion and delay; avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Monitor traffic reports on news radio.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
