Children, 1 Adult Injured in Santa Clarita Single-Vehicle Crash

Canyon Country, Santa Clarita, CA: At least two children are among those injured in a violent crash in Canyon Country Sunday night, Oct. 16, 2022.

The incident involving an older four-door Saturn sedan began at about 9:14 p.m. on southbound lanes of Highway 14 near Via Princessa.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s online traffic incident Information page, 911 callers reported seeing the vehicle swerving multiple times before departing the freeway and slamming into a traffic signal pole.

Firefighters, California Highway Patrol Newhall and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station units responded to the scene on Via Princessa, south of Jason Drive and north of Lost Canyon Road.

At least two children were rushed to two separate trauma centers. At least one adult was also taken by ambulance to a trauma center.

The cause of the crash remains unknown as of 10 p.m. as the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall office continues their investigation.
