Fontana, San Bernardino County, CA: Three people were killed in a wrong-way driver traffic collision involving fire on the 15 Freeway late Monday night, Oct. 24, in the city of Fontana.

California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga Station and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision with fire around 11:40 p.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway south of Sierra Avenue.
Once firefighters arrived on scene, they located two vehicles; one vehicle was fully engulfed in flames with two people trapped inside and a second vehicle with one person trapped inside but not on fire.
Firefighters were able to douse the car fire within 20 minutes of the call when two victims were discovered deceased inside the charred vehicle.
The third victim was pronounced deceased at the scene in the second vehicle.
CHP reported in a news release later Tuesday, that one of the vehicles traveling the wrong way caused the collision. It has yet to be determined which vehicle caused the fatal crash killing all parties involved.
The identities of a male driver and female passenger from Rialto in a 2016 Honda is currently unknown, according to the CHP report. The identity of the 57-year-old female driver in a 2021 Kia is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
CHP had all traffic diverted off at Sierra Avenue and getting back on at Sierra Avenue from the southbound 15 Freeway.
The southbound 15 Freeway was completely closed as CHP handled the investigation into the triple fatal crash.
