Firefighters Battle Intense Pallet Yard Blaze in Watts

Los Angeles, CA: Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters were on the scene of a second alarm fire at a large pallet yard in the South Los Angeles unincorporated area of Watts on Sunday, Mar. 13, 2022.

At approximately 4:40 a.m., LACoFD firefighters responded to the intersection of 108th and Alameda Streets where they found heavy fire showing from a large pallet yard.

Due to the amount of fire and exposure issues, a second alarm was requested by the incident commander. Firefighters aggressively attacked the blaze from two sides of the yard and also with master-streams.

LACoFD reported knockdown of the 200′ x 200′ pallet fire at 9:18 a.m. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.

It is not known at this time what caused the blaze to erupt. The intense flames could be seen from the nearby freeways.
