Fatally Shot Dog Found in Front of Elementary School

Ventura, Ventura County, CA: A Ventura Police Department officer on patrol was flagged down by a citizen reporting a deceased dog early Saturday morning, Apr. 15, in front of Sheridan Way Elementary School on the 500 block of Sheridan Way in the city of Ventura.

Officers responded to the area around 2:10 a.m. and located a small, deceased dog with a gunshot wound in the street at the front of the school. The dog was observed to be wearing some type of harness.

Ventura County Animal Services responded to the location to recover the body.

There are no further details at this time.
