Valley Village, Los Angeles, CA: The remains of a burned male were discovered by firefighters after dousing flames engulfing a vehicle behind a vacant building Monday night.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., May 1, the fire department was notified of a rubbish fire on the 12600 block of West Riverside Drive in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles within the San Fernando Valley.
When Los Angeles Fie Department responded to the location, they found a vehicle on fire located to the rear of a vacant two-story commercial building, according to the fire department.
Firefighters were able to quickly achieve knockdown and prevent damage to the building.
After the flames were extinguished, firefighters discovered the burned remains of an adult male adjacent to the vehicle, LAFD reported.
Battalion Chief Rick Crawford with LAFD at the scene said the department does not currently know the age of the male. There is only preliminary information at this time.
Arson investigators responded to the scene for the investigation which is protocol for any individual that has been burned in any fire.
The building did sustain some minor damage, according to Crawford, however, the fire was contained to the vehicle.
