Long Beach firefighters were summoned to the 100 block of North Marina Drive shortly before 1:15 a.m., May 8, regarding multiple reports of a large fire at the location.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported 15 boats on fire. Firefighters fought flames from both the dock and fire boats, quickly achieving knockdown within 15 minutes of arrival.

After extinguishing the fire, it appeared that only six boats may have sunk, while four were still floating but gutted by fire. The exact number of boats has yet to be confirmed.

Arson investigators arrived on scene to take over the investigation and determine what sparked the cause of the blaze.

The boats belong to London Boat Rentals, a company that allows guests to rent out small boats and wave runners. Further information regarding the operation can be found at https://londonboatrentals.com/fleet/boats .
