2 Rescued from Trench in Studio City

Studio City, Los Angeles, CA: Two people working for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power fell into a trench trapping them each waist high on Friday afternoon.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded around 2:03 p.m., Mar. 18, for a trench rescue on the 10800 block of Bluffside Drive in Studio City.

Firefighters worked to remove debris from the two patients located approximately 3 feet down in a trench, who were both conscious and talking, according to LAFD.

LAFD Urban Search and Rescue was also present at the scene.

Firefighters safely extricated the two patients by 2:47 p.m., and both were transported to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics.

An LAFD Battalion Chief at the scene said the patient’s injuries were minor. The chief also said they were putting down sewer pipes when they fell into the trench.
