Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, CA: A massive cleanup was underway of tents and trash by Los Angeles city crews in a Little Tokyo plaza in Downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Police Department officers stood by as city crews worked to remove tents and trash from the intersection of 1st and San Pedro Streets in the early morning hours of Friday, Mar. 18, as seen in Key News Network video from the location at 2:15 a.m.
Barricades were seen on the perimeter of the area where crews were working to remove debris.
Los Angeles City Councilmember Kevin de León, District 14 said Toriuma Plaza is being closed for maintenance that will include electrical repairs, landscaping, permanent fencing and other ancillary work, reported FOX 11 News.
Clearing of the encampment at the plaza by the city has prompted protests from advocates for the unhoused.
