Driver and Dog Escape Uninjured from Big Rig Jackknife Crash

Newhall, Los Angeles County, CA: A driver and his dog walked away uninjured from a big rig jackknife crash on the I-5 Freeway late afternoon Monday.

It is not known if the wet roadway was the cause of the crash. Oscar Sol / KNN

California Highway Patrol from Newhall was dispatched to a collision involving a white big rig Southbound 5 Freeway on the truck route and arrived on the scene around 4:38 p.m., Mar. 28. CalTrans and Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene.

Per CHP log, the driver and his dog walked away from the accident unharmed after the big rig went off the roadway veering off the dirt on the left shoulder. At the time of the collision, the roads were wet due to light rain. It is unknown if the slippery road was the cause of the accident.

Three heavy duty rotators were also at the scene. CHP issued a SigAlert at 4:56 p.m. to shut down southbound lanes (truck route) for an unknown duration of time.
