The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call around 10 p.m. from a security company tracking the location of merchandise that was stolen in a group armed robbery.

The reported armed robbery took place at a WSS shoe store located in the 7000 block of Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood.

Initial information from authorities at the scene indicated that five suspects were involved in a smash-and-grab at the location. These suspects are allegedly connected to multiple armed robberies.

When the LAPD arrived at the location of the tracked items on 15200 block of Chase Street in North Hills, a resident denied police access into the apartment, which led to an hours-long standoff from about 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 am. Wednesday morning.

LAPD officers acquired a search warrant to gain entry into the apartment and took multiple suspects into custody that were found inside the residence.

Officer Im with LAPD’s Media Relations Division told KNN that a total of six suspects were detained for questioning.

LAPD’s Mission Division is handling the investigation.
