Dog Attack at Domestic Violence Incident Prompts Officer-Involved Shooting

HIGHLAND PARK, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (KNN) — A dog was shot by the Los Angeles Police Department when officers responded to a battery domestic violence call late Tuesday night.

The LAPD’s Northeast Division patrol units responded to a “battery domestic violence in progress” at 11:40 p.m. in the 4900 block of Marmion Way in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to the LAPD.

When officers arrived at the location, they saw a dog attacking the suspect/owner and an officer-involved animal shooting occurred, according to Officer Cervantes with the LAPD’s Media Relations Division.

Officers requested Animal Control for the wounded dog, per information gathered at the scene.

No officers were injured in the incident. One person was reportedly transported to a local hospital, however, there was no information currently available regarding transport, according to Cervantes.

There are no further details at this time.
