APPLE VALLEY, Calif., Mar. 2 (KNN) — A driver ultimately died after lifesaving attempts following a single-vehicle head-on crash into a pole early Saturday morning.

The traffic collision occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Pah-Ute Road and Navajo Road in Apple Valley.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and Apple Valley Fire Protection District rescue personnel were alerted to the incident. They arrived at the scene to find a vehicle on fire, with one occupant that was removed from the car by good Samaritans.
Fire personnel quickly began administering CPR shortly after arriving on scene. The victim was then transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where the driver was pronounced deceased.
A light pole was sheared as a result of the crash, and the northbound lanes of travel on Navajo Road were closed for the duration of the investigation.
Edison workers were called to the scene to assist in repairing the damage to a light pole and traffic signals caused by the crash.
