Driver Survives Collision into Pole, Splitting Vehicle in Half

Studio City, Los Angeles, CA: A driver survived a collision into a light pole that split the vehicle in half early Thursday morning, June 9, in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the single-vehicle traffic collision on the 3400 block Cahuenga Boulevard that was reported around 12:29 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle into a light pole at the location. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the trapped male driver from the vehicle. LAFD Heavy Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue also responded the scene to help with the extrication, and removal of the vehicle from the pole.

The driver appeared to be responsive considering the force of the collision and the extent of damage to the vehicle that was split in half when it crashed into the light pole.

LAFD firefighter/paramedics transported the patient to a local area hospital in unknown condition.
