Elderly Woman Attacked by Homeless Man in Public Restroom in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Dec. 20 (KNN) — A 911 caller reported an elderly woman was being attacked in a restroom by a homeless man at the Newhall Metrolink Station at 24300 Railroad Avenue in the city of Santa Clarita.

The incident was reported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

When deputies arrived to the location, a homeless man was chasing the woman through a corridor outside the women’s restroom, after refusing to allow her to leave.

The woman was shouting for help and attempting to fight the man off with an umbrella. The man’s pants were down to his ankles as the woman attempted to get to safety.

Deputies took the man into custody. A knife and containers of alcohol were found among the man’s possessions.

The woman was evaluated by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.

The incident remains under investigation.
