Lancaster Station deputies responded to a call for service around 6:20 p.m. at the Cedar Ridge apartment complex in the 2100 block of East Avenue J-8 in East Lancaster.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact at the given address with a female Black. At sometime during the investigation, multiple shots were fired from the deputies. The female was struck at least once by gunfire.

Witness David Simington who was home in the area at the time of the shooting, told Key News Network that he had heard a “boom, boom” sound, then ran downstairs and saw a cop car sitting by itself with no one inside. Once back inside his home, he heard a female scream for help or something of that nature. David said it sounded like a teenage girl but he didn’t go back outside because his wife urged him to stay inside as a helicopter circled overhead.

There are no further details at this time as this incident is still an active investigation. This report will be updated when additional information becomes available.
