The fire was initially reported at 1:20 a.m., June 7, on the 1700 block of North Sichel Street in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Firefighters arrived on scene to a 13,500 square-foot, two-story commercial building heavily involved in flames and threatening at least one adjacent building, reported LAFD. Crews immediately began the firefight defensively.

LAFD reported there were a total of 96 firefighters on the scene thirty minutes into the battle with intense flames consuming the building. The building houses storage for an event planning business, according to LAFD.

The intense battle came to an end just before 3 a.m., with a total of 120 LAFD firefighters at the location. The building was heavily damaged, according to the fire department.

Firefighters were due to remain on scene well into the morning to coordinate salvage and overhaul a large amount of smoldering debris, with LAFD heavy equipment summoned to assist due to the physical instability of the 70-year-old structure, LAFD reported.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
