Investigation Underway in Double Fatal Building Fire

Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA: Coroner officials investigated and recovered the body of one person early Friday morning stemming from a Thursday evening blaze that reportedly killed two and gravely injured a third person.

The fire broke out shortly before 9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at an abandoned auto repair shop.

Responding Long Beach firefighters found the building well involved in flames and began an aggressive fire attack.

During the firefight, one patient was discovered deceased and two others were found gravely injured.

The two were transported to area hospitals where it is reported that at least one of those two did not survive.

Arson investigators and police continue their investigation into the cause of the fire and deaths.
