Los Angeles, CA: Labor Day is here so expect delays at Los Angeles International Airport as the holiday weekend kicks off. Friday is expected to be the busiest day for travel at the airport and on the roads, which will be scattered with police DUI checkpoints throughout the city of Los Angeles.

It is recommended that air travelers take into account the extra time needed to arrive, check in and process through TSA security screening, which according to tsawaittimes.com, could take as long as 41 minutes, depending upon arrival time. TSA Pre is available.
More information on the TSA screening process can be found here.
Meanwhile, for those who are in Los Angeles visiting, and for Angelenos who have decided to stay in town and ride the local heat wave into the end of summer, the Los Angeles Police Department will have numerous DUI checkpoints throughout the city of Los Angeles through the weekend. LAPD stated in a press release that the locations of the checkpoints are subject to change or cancelation.
LAPD will have additional officers on patrol though Labor Day (Sept.6) looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. LAPD said the increased efforts to address impaired driving are part of a national enforcement campaign – Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over.
“Driving impaired is risky and puts yourself and others around you in serious danger,” Officer Inman, Traffic Group, said. “If you are taking a road trip over the next few weeks, make good choices and drive like your closest friends and family are in the cars around you.”
“Driving while impaired is not just from alcohol. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana may also impair. If you plan on drinking or taking medications with a driving warning label, let someone who is sober drive. If you see someone driving impaired, call 9-1-1,” LAPD stated in the release.
