Pedestrian Killed at Bus Stop by Hit-and-Run Driver

Santa Fe Springs, Los Angeles County, CA: A male adult is dead after a hit-and-run driver slammed into a bus stop late Saturday afternoon, Mar. 11.

Whittier Police Department officers and Santa Fe Springs Fire paramedics responded to the intersection of Shoemaker Avenue and Telegraph Road in the city of Santa Fe Springs shortly before 4:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a multi-vehicle crash with one car into a tree and bus stop, and the others pulled over in a nearby parking lot.

One male pedestrian was located on the sidewalk, unresponsive. Police immediately began administering CPR until the arrival of paramedics, however, paramedics quickly declared him deceased at the scene.

The father of one of the other surviving crash victims spoke anonymously on camera, telling Key News Network that the suspect allegedly ran a red light before striking his daughter’s vehicle and the pedestrian. The subject got out of the car and fled on foot from the scene.

All directions of Telegraph Road and Shoemaker Avenue were shut down at the intersection during the investigation of the incident. A large crime scene was established.
