Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

Bakersfield, Kern County, CA: A pedestrian has died in a collision with a vehicle that fled the scene late Thursday evening in the city of Bakersfield.

The fire department received a call just before 8:00 p.m., Mar. 23, regarding a person lying in the roadway unresponsive and not breathing on the 2100 block of South Chester Avenue. California Highway Patrol officers were also at the scene.

A good Samaritan in the area rendered aid to the victim until paramedics and firefighters arrived. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The hit-and-run vehicle left the scene. There is no vehicle description at this time.
