CANOGA PARK, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (KNN) — An attempted traffic stop on a stolen vehicle by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol unit transitioned into a pursuit after the police vehicle was rammed injuring the officer.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., LAPD put out an “officer needs help” call at the intersection of Variel Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard in Canoga Park for a suspect actively ramming a police vehicle.
An LAPD patrol unit attempted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle when the driver rammed the patrol vehicle, injuring the officer, which prompted a pursuit of an “assault with a deadly weapon” suspect, according to the LAPD.
During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle additionally collided with another vehicle, terminating the chase.
A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance was requested to the scene. The LAPD reported that the officer was treated at the scene for a non-life-threatening injury.
LAPD officers remained at the location investigating the incident.
