Pursuit Crash Involving Hydrant Sends Gallons of Water Gushing Skyward

Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA: A Los Angeles Police Department pursuit of a vehicle ended in a collision that involved another vehicle and a hydrant in the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday night, Aug. 2.

LAPD officers were in pursuit of a vehicle around 10:50 p.m. when the suspect vehicle was involved in a collision that included another vehicle and hydrant which sent gallons of water skyward at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Van Ness.

The suspect fled on foot from the scene after crashing, but was caught by officers.

It is unknown at this time if there were any injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department successfully shut down the hydrant.

The reason for the pursuit is unknown at this time as well as which vehicle the suspect was driving. No further details are currently available.
