Pursuit Suspect in Custody After Crashing Vehicle in Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 12 (KNN) — A suspect was taken into custody after a pursuit terminated in a crash in the city of Santa Monica late Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division patrol units attempted to stop a black Ford Explorer for unknown reasons when the driver sped away from officers.

A pursuit was initiated and continued into the city of Santa Monica.

The pursuit terminated around 11:30 p.m. when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a curb at the northwest corner of Ocean Avenue and Olympic Drive.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Tourist Kanochean Garrett, who witnessed the incident, told Key News Network on camera that he saw the suspect driving “crazy” and appeared to be a drunk driver. He also said he feels a lot safer after seeing how the police were “on it.”

There are no further details at this time.
