Scooter Rider Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Silver Lake

SILVER LAKE, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7 (KNN) — A man was found in the street fatally injured in a traffic collision involving a vehicle that fled the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division patrol units and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at 1:11 a.m. Tuesday, on Sunset Boulevard just west of Edgecliff Drive in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles.

When first responders arrived on scene, they located the victim down in the street.

LAFD paramedics transported the 35-year-old male to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to Officer Drake Madison with the LAPD’s Media Relations Division.

A witness stated a gray van struck the victim who was on a motorized scooter and fled the scene.

The scooter was observed laying in the roadway not far from the sidewalk curb.

LAPD’s Central Traffic Division had closed down Sunset Boulevard at the time of the incident for the investigation.
