MESA, Ariz., Apr. 3 (KNN) — A sedan and a Mesa Police Department K-9 patrol vehicle collided at a Mesa intersection late Tuesday night.

According to a Mesa Police lieutenant at the scene, a Mesa Police K-9 officer was driving eastbound on Brown Road in his patrol Tahoe around 11:20 p.m.
As the officer entered the intersection of Brown Road and Higley Road, a silver Toyota passenger car driving southbound on Higley collided with the officer.
The officer and his K-9 partner sustained non-serious injuries.
The officer was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the Toyota sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Impairment is being investigated as a potential factor in the collision.
All directions of Higley Road and Brown Road were closed as officers from the Mesa Police Crime Scene Unit documented the scene.
