MID-WILSHIRE, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (KNN) — A van slammed into a fire hydrant sending gallons of water gushing sky high and injuring the solo occupant early Friday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division patrol units and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of a crash shortly before 1 a.m. involving a van and a fire hydrant at the southwest corner of Crenshaw and West Olympic Boulevards.
When first responders arrived on scene, they located the van on the sidewalk as well as a 50-foot geyser spewing from where the hydrant used to be.
The water was shut off in just a few minutes.
The solo occupant of the van was transported in unknown condition to the hospital by LAFD paramedics.
LAPD’s West Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
