The burglary spree began around 2:25 a.m., Apr. 28, when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lakewood Station received three different calls regarding burglary alarms and glass breaking at the intersection of Woodruff Avenue and South Street in the city of Lakewood.

The following three businesses were burglarized within a span of 1-2 minutes each: Uniform Advantage at 5673 Woodruff Avenue, Arco Gas Station at 5557 Woodruff Avenue and Starbucks Coffee at 5538 Woodruff Avenue.

Deputies cleared all three establishments of any potential criminals still inside and located broken front glass doors at all three businesses.

As units were clearing the establishments, they received a fourth call of a window glass break alarm at Auto Zone, located at 4945 Woodruff Avenue. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a blue vehicle with Tennessee plates unoccupied, but with the engine still running in front of the neighboring 99 Cents Store. A broken glass door was observed at the store.

A male suddenly emerged from the broken door and ran from the building. Deputies established a perimeter around the area and began an hours long search for the suspect who fled from the 99 Cents Store.

Around 3:22 a.m., deputies reported that they located the suspect behind the store, hiding in a yard in the 5800 block of Silva Street.

Deputies quickly took the male into custody. The loss incurred for each business is currently unclear, however, it appeared a possible safe was left dumped in front of the Auto Zone business.
