The crash, which plunged thousands of Santa Clarita residents into darkness, occurred around 9:41 p.m., Nov. 30, along a 1/4-mile stretch of Via Princessa, south of Costco Plaza.

The pickup truck came to rest on top of one of the two geysers of water caused by severed fire hydrants.

The driver was handcuffed and taken into custody by a sheriff’s deputy following the conclusion of a DUI field sobriety test.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
