Montebello, Los Angeles County, CA: A vehicle erupted into flames on the side of the 60 Freeway early Sunday morning in the city of Montebello.

California Highway Patrol and Montebello Fire Department were dispatched around 12:48 a.m. May, 8, to a vehicle fire on the 60 freeway at the Wilcox exit. When Montebello firefighters arrived on the scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames with smoke showing.
CHP had the freeway completely shut down when firefighters arrived, but once Montebello Fire had control of the vehicle fire, CHP let traffic continue.
The flames were extinguished within minutes. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
It is unknown at this time what caused the fire.
