1 Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash Involving Fire, Sheared Hydrant, Damaged Home in Leimert Park

LEIMERT PARK, LOS ANGELES, Apr. 27 (KNN) — Two vehicles collided in the Leimert Part neighborhood of South Los Angeles overnight leaving one person dead at the scene of destruction.

The collision was reported shortly before 3 a.m. at the intersection of Obama Boulevard and 6th Avenue prompting a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One vehicle came to rest nearly a block away and then erupted into flames. A second vehicle involved in the collision sheared a fire hydrant before slamming into a home.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported three patients to a regional trauma center with unspecified injuries including a 30-year-old female, an 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, reported Brian Humphrey, spokesperson for the LAFD.

One additional patient was determined deceased at the scene, according to Humphrey. Their age and gender were not immediately available.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division is handling the fatal crash investigation.
