The fatal crash occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 3700 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

According to the LAPD, a white Infiniti FX35 was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard at Rodeo Place when the driver lost control and crashed into a building on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The driver failed to remain at the scene and render aid to a 4-year-old passenger inside the vehicle. The driver abandoned the Infiniti and fled in a white sedan, according to the LAPD.

Additional resources were requested to the scene after Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived. Firefighters indicated that a pediatric patient was in full cardiac arrest. The child was transported by LAFD Rescue 34 to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The LAPD reported that two other passengers were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. One was the child’s mother.

LAPD’s South Traffic units had closed Crenshaw to traffic while officers conducted their investigation.

The driver who fled the scene was described as a Black female, possibly in her 30s, according to the LAPD.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact South Traffic Division Detective Moreno at (424) 298-7898. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call the Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
