Santa Clarita Bicyclist Killed in Traffic Collision Involving 2 Vehicles

SANTA CLARITA, Nov. 25 (KNN) — A bicyclist was killed in a traffic collision involving two vehicles at an intersection in the Newhall community of Santa Clarita Saturday afternoon.

A bicyclist heading in an unknown direction around 12:41 p.m. at Market Street and Railroad Avenue, was struck by a vehicle and then run over by another vehicle, according to initial information gathered at the scene at the time of the incident.

The driver of the Mini Cooper and the driver of the other vehicle involved, stayed at the scene and were cooperating with sheriff’s deputies. The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the location with an AMR ambulance and pronounced the bicyclist deceased at the scene.

Sheriff’s deputies requested additional units to shut down traffic in the area of north and southbound lanes on Railroad Avenue at Market Street, and east and west on Market Street as they investigated the scene of the fatal collision.

There are no further details at this time.
