Vermont-Slauson, Los Angeles, CA: A man was shot in the back while running from a gunman firing at him in front of the “Figueroa Church of Christ” at the intersection of Figueroa and 57th Street in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Vermont-Slauson at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 20, 2022.

Los Angeles Police Department 77th Division officers responded to the 600 block of West 56th Street where the victim ran after the shooting. Officers found the man with a gunshot wound to the back.

Los Angeles Fire Department was requested and transported the man in unknown condition to a local area hospital. No suspect information is available at this time. Casings were seen scattered across the street in front of the church where the shooting occurred.

LAPD 77th Division is handling the investigation.
