SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Feb. 27 (KNN) — Several Los Angeles City Fire apparatuses assembled at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Santa Clarita and formed a procession to Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary following the death of a member of the LAFD, according to a firefighter at the scene.

Personnel, two engines and a truck from Mission Hills Fire Station 75 met at the hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 25, shortly after 10:30 p.m. and began an escort and procession to the mortuary at 10:36 p.m.
The convoy reached the mortuary at 10:54 p.m.
In a news release on Wednesday, the LAFD announced the off-duty death of Active-Duty Inspector I Ramon (Ray) Carrasco. “We extend our deepest condolences to Ray’s family, friends and loved ones among our own ranks,” the release read.
“Details about Ray’s memorial service are still being determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund, PO Box 41903, Los Angeles, CA 90041.”
According to the fire department, Ray joined the LAFD on Oct. 23, 2000, and was most recently assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau, Public Assembly Unit.
