Chesterfield, Los Angeles, CA: A kitten in an abandoned house fire was rescued by Los Angeles City firefighters early Wednesday morning on the 5900 block of Haas Avenue. The fire was reported at approximately 1:36 a.m. May 4, in the Chesterfield neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Firefighters arrived at the location to reports of possible squatters trapped in the home. LAFD firefighters searched the location and were unable to find any persons inside. However, a baby kitten was located and rescued from the burning building.
The fire spread to the attic, but was knocked down in approximately fifteen minutes.
A Key News Network photojournalist at the scene took the kitten into his care, named her “Ash” and gave her a bath. Ash sustained minor burns to her paws and smoke inhalation, but is expected to make a full recovery.
