Altadena, Los Angeles County, CA: Los Angeles County Fire Department air operations and ground crews are assisting Angeles National Forest personnel to extinguish a fire near Cobb Estate in the area of Altadena.

LACoFD responded to reports of a brush fire at Loma Alta Drive and Lake Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022.

Units are battling a 3-5 acre fire with help from Los Angeles City Fire, Verdugo, ANF and Cal Fire. Air drops are working to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is not currently known.

Angeles National Forest said in a tweet around 3:30 p.m., the fire is heading toward the Sam Merrill and Sunset Ridge trails. ANF stated they will be in unified command with LACoFD.

The last report Sunday night was crews were making significant progress on the fire and that it was now 10% contained.
