Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division officers responded to the 5400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard near Western in the city of East Hollywood for an ambulance shooting call with a male black victim down at the Oink Night Club.

Sergeant James Day, interviewed at the scene by Key News Network, said when officers initially arrived at the scene, they located a victim with a head wound at Western and Santa Monica Boulevard, and then a second victim closer to Orchard and Santa Monica. Day said the second victim appeared to have suffered a stab wound with additional gunshot wound, or multiple stab wounds.

According to Day, it appeared there was a private party at the club at Western and Santa Monica where a fight initially broke out that bled into the street when gunshots rang out. One person possibly hit their head trying to get away but this all conjecture at this point, said Day.

Another person was fleeing, and the police have video of someone shooting a gun in that direction and then that person falls, said Day. It is uncertain at this time if that person was struck by gunfire or the victim has multiple stab wounds from the stabbing inside the club.

Day said there was a group of possibly 40 people inside the club in a room that was rented out for a private party – a completely underground type of party.

Once a person was discovered collapsed and wounded upon arrival of LAPD, Day said police secured the whole area cutting off the freeway entrance of Santa Monica all the way to Western and the side streets that run perpendicular to Santa Monica Boulevard.

The first victim was stabilized by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and was transported to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, said Day who believed that was the correct hospital. The second victim was stabilized at the hospital.

Day said that in the direction the second victim was fleeing, there is evidence that a vehicle was struck by gunfire with a bullet hole in the side of the vehicle. It was not determined if the vehicle was struck by a bullet due to the incident or whether the vehicle was fired upon.

LAPD is investigating the incident.
