Driver Killed in Traffic Collision Involving Power Pole

Oxnard, Ventura County, CA: A driver was killed in a crash involving a power pole early Saturday morning.

California Highway Patrol Ventura officers responded to a solo vehicle versus power pole traffic collision around 5:25 a.m., Apr. 15, on Harbor Boulevard just South of Gonzales Road in the city of Oxnard.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they located a gray sedan off the roadway with major damage. The wooden power pole was observed sheared toward the bottom and left supported only by overhead wires.

The single occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Oxnard City Fire Department.

The driver was reported to have not been wearing a seat belt, according to CHP officers at the scene.

It was unclear if there was power interruption in the area.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and under investigation.
