SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 10 (KNN) – A scheduled appearance by political commentator Ben Shapiro in Simi Valley was canceled following the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to organizers.

Shapiro was set to speak this evening at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library about his new book. The cancellation was announced after the shooting incident but prior to President Donald Trump’s confirmation of Kirk’s death on social media.
Kirk, who rose from a teenage conservative campus activist to a top podcaster and ally of President Trump, was shot and killed during one of his public appearances at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was 31.
Kirk died while rallying supporters, marking his continued influence on the right. The incident is part of a concerning trend of escalating attacks on political figures, which includes the recent assassination of a Democratic state lawmaker and her husband in Minnesota, as well as last summer’s shooting involving Trump-related activities.
