LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (KNN) — A broken water pipe flooded the 5 Freeway causing a traffic collision involving two vehicles early Monday morning in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles.

A Los Angeles Fire Department engine traveling northbound on the 5 Freeway at Grande Vista Avenue reported flooding across all lanes of the freeway causing vehicles to hydroplane.
Two vehicles ended up colliding with one of them coming to rest teetering on a guardrail.
LAFD personnel evaluated the occupants in both vehicles and were then released at the scene.
Per the LAFD, the flooding was caused due to a broken water pipe on the off-ramp from homeless individuals suspected of stealing water.
The northbound 5 Freeway was down to one lane until the water was shut off.
