Deputy SUV U-Turn Crash Caught on Video

Newhall, Santa Clarita, CA: Home video shows the moment a crash occurred involving a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station patrol SUV and two sedans at a busy Newhall intersection Saturday afternoon.

The crash, which is the second deputy-involved collision in less than 24 hours, occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m., May 6, when the patrol SUV conducted a U-turn in front of oncoming traffic, the video shows.

One vehicle traveling through the intersection of Sierra Highway and Whispering Leaves Drive on a green light broadsided the sheriff’s department SUV seconds before another car slammed into the unit and a traffic signal.

The crash is under investigation at this time.
