Pomona, Los Angeles County, CA: A street race appears to be the possible cause of a deadly crash that left a female passenger deceased in a Honda, and the male driver hospitalized late Wednesday night.

The Pomona Police Department and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision around 11:48 p.m., Apr. 26, involving a Honda sedan and Dodge Charger on the 1000 block of East Holt Avenue near North Loranne Avenue in the city of Pomona.
First responding officers immediately aided the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles involved due to severe injures, according to Pomona PD in a news release.
“L. A. County Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the injured male driver to a nearby hospital in critical condition; the female passenger of his vehicle succumbed to her injuries, and was pronounced deceased on scene. Multiple witnesses said the Honda and a muscle-type vehicle were racing westbound on Holt Avenue when the Honda lost control and crashed into a Dodge Charger in the eastbound lanes of East Holt Avenue.
Two witnesses interviewed on camera by Key News Network at the location, said the vehicles were racing at a high rate of speed. The muscle-type vehicle that was racing the Honda reportedly fled the scene westbound on Holt Avenue.
