Flames Engulf Room in Northridge Apartment Unit, Occupants Displaced

NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (KNN) – The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex in Northridge early Friday morning.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 3 a.m. to find a two-story garden-style apartment building with fire present in one room of a second-story unit in the 19000 block of West Parthenia Street, near the intersection of Parthenia Street and Vanalden Avenue.

According to the LAFD, all occupants of the unit had exited and were accounted for with no injuries reported.

The first arriving firefighters achieved a knockdown in 14 minutes, and remained on the scene for an overhaul of the damage, the LAFD reported. 

The Red Cross responded to assist the displaced occupants, according to the LAFD.

The cause of the fire remains unknown as the investigation is ongoing.
