Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Man Riding Mini Bike

Downey, Los Angeles County, CA: A man was left for dead after a hit-and-run driver plowed into a motorized mini bike late Sunday night, Jan. 29, around 10:38 p.m.

Multiple calls were received for a body in lanes of eastbound Telegraph Road over the San Gabriel River in the city of Downey.

When authorities arrived on scene, they located a male deceased in the gutter. Police and deputies cordoned off all westbound and eastbound lanes of Telegraph Road between True Avenue and the 605 Freeway.

Downey Police officers were seen combing the area for further potential evidence.

Witnesses stated that a gray sedan with a spoiler was traveling eastbound over the bridge when the driver plowed into the mini bike rider and continued driving.

No further information has been released regarding the incident.

All lanes of Telegraph Road were closed between the Santa Fe Springs/Downey city line for an unknown amount of time.
