Upon arrival, Ventura County resources encountered a landslide behind the townhouse complex at the location.

After an assessment was made that there were no life safety hazards, VCFD brought in a number of the department’s task force to push the mudslide out of the way and to divert the water utilizing sandbags, a lot of teamwork and hand power to make the development safe, said Romero.

No townhouses appeared to be directly threatened. However, the hillside is still compromised, but the work VCFD was doing with the construction bulldozer pushing up the mud and all the debris, as well as sand bagging efforts, should keep things well mitigated for everybody, according to Romero.

No evacuations were necessary.
